Oil Rigs In Santa Barbra Question

I have always drove down the interstate and always looked at the oil rigs out there!
Always seems like it would be fun fishing but I know it's over 2 miles out but how far out is it?
Anyone every try to make it? if so how was the fishing?!

The rigs at Huntington flats for me is about 7 miles 1 way, in the water by 4am out by 6pm, paddled all day, this year I will be peddling.
