Recommend a Rod Holder for Spinning Rod?
What are your recommendations on a rod holder for a spinning rod for trolling?
I've looked at both the Scotty and RAM setups, and they're both pretty similar to my untrained eye. I've even thought about using a rocket launcher setup, with a bungee cord or some kind of retaining mechanism. What do you kayak fishing experts recommend? |

I've used just the standard scotty spinning one. I've had Trevalas with Saragosa set ups.
I like them over the Ram mounts, since people have problems with the ram mounts moving. I find it is a little harder to get them out with a fish on, as opposed to rocket launcher set ups though. I also put an extender on mine, to keep the butt of the rod out of my lap and gives you more options to position it. http://www.amazon.com/Scotty-Baitcas...0675721&sr=8-3 |

I have used both and the Scotty works better for the fact they do not move.

Scotty. I almost lost a saltist on a calstar 196 because the ram ball mount moved.

Well... I definitely don't want to lose anything overboard - I think I'll go with the Scotty.
Thanks kayak fishing experts! |
