New to kayaking and lobster hoop netting!

Hello.

I am new to SD but have been fishing my entire life. Just picked up my first kayak and see lobster season is in full swing. I have kayaked La Jolla Shores before but no where else. If I were to go hoop netting, where would be some good areas and launch spots? I've heard mission bay but not sure where I should launch and where I should drop nets. I am not looking for any secret honey holes. And since I am new to the area, please be as descriptive as possible. Also, is it pretty worthless to go hoop netting for lobster during the daytime? Thanks everyone!

Not sure if this is safe for kayakers though. I heard that Chuck Norris
dives around here and he is one stealthy ninja f'n MOFO.

If the spotlights lights come on, they are targeting you. You will know if
you hear automatic weapons fire.

I am new as well to lobster hopping, also have a new kayak, have also fished most my life but I have always lived in San Diego.

I did try the Mission Bay Area last Sat and got 5 smalls and one legal and learned I NEEDED more bait.

I did not like my launch site and need to find a new one as I was forced to an alternative because of parking lot closures at 10 PM of my planned launch area.

There are a few public launch ramps, Google Earth is your friend.

I will going out again on Friday twilight.

How do you hop lobsters? Jk!

You can always launch at LJS and maybe meet up with some of the BWE crew.

What part of the bay did you launch from?

Funny guy, spell check and I missed that one. Because my two picked out launch sites had the 10 pm curfew, I ended up parking across from the roller coaster on the bay side where there is overnight parking. It does work, it is just not an easy launch site. Even tho it seems kinda remote, a DFG officer snuck up on me there when I returned which was fine.

So far I have only fished/hooped by myself and a night launch and return at la jolla is not in the cards for now.
