24th Dec LJK - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Finally got to go out to LJK for the first time. Launch was smooth and it was a quick paddle to the kelp. No bait tank...plan to fish artificial. I saw bait chasing my lure on the retrieve so I decided I would make bait. Slapped on a jig and made bait. Trolled the kelp line and got bit but the fish broke off. Decided to use the BH swimbait for some bass but no luck. Went back to the jig and caught what I believe to be a gopher rockfish? I caught several rock fish and small calico. All fish were released. I got hung up on the kelp several times but my knots were GTG. Power pro line w/ 30lb shock leader on my new Okuma trio 55 reel. Only thing missing was some YT or WSB. I guess I missed the season. Can't wait to get back out.
