I have adopted Fongman's great idea of using tarp tie-downs and have attached them to every rod holder on my yak. For about $6 you can have every rod except the one in your hand securely lashed down.

I love the Innovations page, I have gotten a lot of my ideas from there. As I was driving to dinner tonight I thought about the tarp tie-downs as you mentioned. I have a few of those I can use. I'm set, thanks for mentioning those.
