Maybe a leash would have helped.
I have a Revo and have always found the rod holders on this kayak to be just about useless for holding a rod. To solve the problem I designed a trolling rig out of ABS that fits into these holes This rig works pretty well. If you are interested you can check out an old post here.

My biggest problem with the hobie molded in rod holders is where they are positioned. If they are going to mold in rod holders, they should place them up front where you can see the rods.
