Redondo, sunset pics and report

I found myself with a free 2 hours. So I launched. Instead of the video camera, I brought my digital camera.
I worked the area where I was getting sand bass a few nights ago. No love. NONE. I switched up baits, I switched retrieves. No Joy. After throwing some 6 different lures, I switched to a Berkley Gulp 5" swim bait. As soon as the sun went down, I got the bite going.

First fish was a sculpin.

One of the things I notice about working a lure that is weedless, you will miss strikes. The soft mouthing that you feel, they spit. I guess it is a trade off. I got the fish in the last 10 minutes on the water. I had my girl coming over, and had to get going.
I was hoping for a nice sandbass bite, but the spot they were in just two days ago, simply didn't produce with the sun up. So, as the sun set, and I was paddling back, and the action picked up. The whole time I was keeping track of time. Sucked because it was a cast and a result. Be it short strike, or fish, or sculpin. Right now, things, are just fishy. Makes me wonder how I would have done outside of the breakwall. The fish are bigger, easier to catch, and the sunsets are better.

I'm hoping to get down to La Jolla to try for a yellow tail. I'm actually thinking of putting two days into it.

My business picks up in October, so gotta enjoy the free time now.
