Not too sure what happens, but they seem to fall in the bottom of the hoop net and in theory are wating for you to measure them!
I like that style of rigging the bait cage as it seems to add to the presentation of the bait pocket in the bottom of the hoop net, I do know that Jim Salazar highly reccomends it and that is pretty much as good as it gets in my opinion.
