With my age & back injury I'm no longer in any kind of condition to try, but if they get closer I'm currently doing some cycle training to get my heart/physical condition up to a decent level. I'm thinking it's only June and with the conditions this crazy it reminds me of the El Niño of '84-5 and if anyone is old enough to remember that was one for the record books (at least for the local boats)!
There were schooling
all over the Santa Monica Bay! A 10# bonito was a jr. 15#'ers were common. A run of albacore (avg. 35+# with some weighing up to 60#'s were running through the Catalina Channel in November). Half day boats from MDR, Redondo, 22nd St., Ports 'O' Call & Long Beach were trolling the channel until Christmas. It was an amazing year!
I'm praying that it gets that good!
