Fished La Jolla yesterday and this whale I was admiring from Distance got way too close for comfort! The last time it surface it was around 15-20 ft from me. Scared the crap out of me and almost had a heart attack... Because of the panic and rush I forgot I had a bait in the water. I was quickly reminded by a screaming reel.
Im guessing that it got caught in a fin or something. For a second the fishing Part of me thought about going along for the ride, but I decided to cut the line instead.
Even with the scare it was a great day on the water it I did catch a new fish that I can check off my San Diego list
.Both Lingcod were released and swam away nicely. I'm still going to take a couple weeks off from la jolla haha.
