LJ Yellowtail 7/28

Launched early into knee high waves and no wind. Spent an hour or more trying to make bait near the pier, it was tough for everyone I saw. Finally picked up a decent spanish and a smaller greenback. Paddled over to the fishing grounds and pinned the spanish on the flyline, trolled him around through the floating kelp and grass, it kept getting fouled with grass and I would reel it in and clear the grass several times until it was nearly dead. I only had one more bait so I kept the nearly dead bait out longer than I normally would.... then ZZZzzzzzzz. The yellowtail immediately wrapped around my sabiki line, I was never able to clear it but was able to fight the fish and bring it in for the gaff shot. Matt was photog so I passed him my last bait, his story but both my baits were golden. Fresh hiramasa tonight!

22lb

Last Saturday's 32lb from same photog. Thanks again Matt!
