Thursday evening I managed a few short WSB and a big calico in 20 - 25
feet of water, in south LJ, on bass plastics.
Friday launched the canyon at 4:45 pm and caught some smelt. Slow
trolled out to 90' of water and got bit on the 7" blue/grn/grey colored
swimbait. Well since I'm pedaling, I got to feel the hard *thwak* bite
because I was HOLDING the rod ... startled, I managed to create an
untimely spectra tipwrap for 3 seconds as the fish made a quick
run/headshake. Somehow snapped fluoro 25# with a clean break/cut so
either the leader had a nick or it was a toothy critter.
Later in the evening my flylined smelt went nuts, so I looked back to see
10 seconds of crashing boiling yellowtail (saw the head of one pop out)

which decided not to eat the smelt after all. Great show
though.
Looks

yellowtaily-ish out there.
Both trips I fished the 9'9" Hobie Sport kayak coupled with turbo mirage drive.
