Following the fish is there a way
 

I am not sure if this is an option on the fish finder GPS, but is there a way to tell which direction the fish are going?


Sometime i see a group of fish right under me, but i can not tell which way they are heading so I lose them.

I have wondered the same thing myself

There is no way to set up your sonar to tell so you just have to figure it out.

Direction usually depends what they are doing. Fin bait like anchovies or dines usually move with the current. Fish hunting fin bait generally move against the current, if the fish are on finbait they are usually moving with the current following the bait.

If your next to kelp or structure the fish may be moving in or out from it.

Usually the best way to figure out what they are doing or which way they are going is to make a large radius circle each time you see the fish and see where they show up next. Eventually you'll figure out a pattern like the fish always show up a certain distance due east a minute or two later, and then be able to better predict what's going on, or where they will be next. That kind of circle and find the pattern is the standard way of locating schools of tuna offshore after you loose them but it actually works well inshore for any kind of fish or bait that schools up and moves in a predictable pattern.
