East Cape Report
Again, I'm pretty pressed for time so this will be a shortened version...
My drama - TSA (I think the A stands for assholes) broke 2 of my 4 rods while inspecting them. I found them and their tips taped to the foam inside the bazooka tube. Kinda put a damper on the trip, but we just made due without them. Fishing over was kinda slow as Jim mentioned... I was not on the trip with Jim. We stayed in Buena Vista just 5 minutes South of Los Barriles. I was able to land 2 15lb tuna on day one, one 50ish on day two and 1 more 15lb on day 3. The 50lber on day two was taken on my avet sx on 50lb izor topped with 20lb fluorocarbon. I fought that fish for a little over an hour... http://cdphotog.net/BWE/nicyft_2010.jpg Black hat = Fish - right JP? http://cdphotog.net/BWE/2nicyft_2010.jpg Carlos, my dad and me http://cdphotog.net/BWE/dad_2010.jpg candid shot with point and shoot of dad waiting for the boat |
Nice :cheers1: Looks like the weater cooperated too. Sucks about the broken rods
I still need to get me a fiddy tuna! |
Nice tuna Nic. Bummer on the rods. Some nice r&r.
|
Thanks Steveo
thank you Bob, great r&r.... always hard to leave baja |
congrats on the YFT! Sorry to hear about the poles
|
I would gladly snap a few rods in half to have that experience. The combination of great fishing, adventure in Baja and sharing that with your father is priceless. Good report. Thanks
|
Nice fish on the light gear.
I'm heading to Bahia Asuncion in a couple of weeks with a few BWE guys. -They told us to bring our heaviest gear for the tuna offshore, but I want to fish from the beach too. So I'm making a ABS rod tube to take a 9' jigstick for the beach Halibut and Yellows:p ---------------- We're going to LA Bay on the way home for a few days |

Lapaz
What's up here in lapaz just finishing four days of pretty good fishing, day one yellow fin to 25 day two dorado to 20 and a sail on 30 that went about 80 day three dorado and lost wahoo, day 4 north winds wahoo and dorado,
Weird saw a bunch of east cape boats fishing lapaz where did you get ten larger tuna |
You da' man...
I don't think it's the hat, Nic---you can fish! A fifty pound YFT will completely kick your ass on 20 lb fluorocarbon. With those little teeth and their speed, you've got your hands full. That's a trophy in my book, bro. Well done!
http://cdphotog.net/BWE/dad_2010.jpg This is the biggest catch of all, though. What I would do to be able to share fishing with my father. Epic photo :cheers1:. |
