We all have seen pictures of gigantic Halibut taken from Alaska. But I thought I'd share this video since it was taken by a relative of mine that makes his living commercial fishing.

How'd you like to hook her from a kayak?

Would love to hook and fight one from the kayak. Unhooking, landing and hauling back to shore are another thing completely. Were they using a whole Salmon for bait?

They were using a cod head. That fish was beat up pretty badly. gotta lay them upside down on the brown side. so they dont turn all red and bruised on the bottom.

There is a couple videos of our Danish Friends across the oceans. the ones who eat and kill the pilot whales... but either way! they have halibut there too Some big monsters up to 500lbs. And they care catching them in 60 feet of water. pretty crazy.

the thing was already dead before they got it to the boat? good for them, I guess. Could cause some major damage flopping around.

Wonder what sort of bycatch they pull up dead and toss back over the rail.
