what are some available options for me to wire a timer for my live well besides my finger?

There's switches that have one minute on/off cycles. I got one on my bait tank on my whaler. Saves the battery and doesn't hurt the bait (depending on what type).

I have one with a dial that is adjustable.It runs 30 seconds and can be off anywhere from 5 seconds to 5 minutes.I adjust it to how much bait I have in the tank.I got it at bass pro shops.

I have one that i just took off my old yak and found out that i will not be using it ...So if you want a used one that works i will sell it for $40 bucks i puchased it at OEX sunset bch(I think for $100) . Im going to oceanside saturday to pick up my new HOBIE...

I just bought one to replace my old 7/14 timer switch.

The ones we used to sell as part of the kayatank system we made ourselves because we couldn't find any other option on the market that would last more than a couple months in a salty kayak. The ones dgax posted are what we currently offer, they're just as durable and made for duck decoys, so they're completely waterproof. Plus CJ doesn't have to slave in his garage to produce them.

Be careful, even some of the "marine grade" timers you'll find out there will prove to self destruct in a kayak. It's a much wetter and more corrosive environment than the panel of a bass boat for example.

Or just use a 6v battery and forget the timer....Lasts all day and don't have to worry about the additional wiring.

You can set the timer however you like, up to 15 seconds each for off and on cycles.

I found an article that listed all the 12 volt bait and bilge pumps, and I got the one that draws the least.

I coupled that with a 6 volt 12 ah battery and 2.5 gallon bucket.

She runs fine and I have never had any bait die on me yet.

5 hours of running the tank, I only have to puts 780 mah back in, less than 1 ampere hour.

Round it off to 1 AH per 5 hours, I can run my tank for 60 hours with no timer. Even if I were 50% off, half that and its still 30 hours.

Works ok. Just sayin.
