Rigging help.

I bought some ram ball mounts and want to mount them behind the seat. I can't get to the inside area of the kayak to apply a backing for reinforcement so I was wondering if anyone has used toggle bolts for their kayak or if there is another preferred method. Thanks, Chris.

I would not use a toggle such as that.

If you are in SD or Oside I am recommending you - at Least speak with OEX.

Call the Santa Clara Store and speak with CJ or Brian. They can help.

Andy is at the Oside store.

Do it right the 1st. time. These guys see and rig more variety of Kayaks then any of us.

I've had good luck with rivets when I am not able to get to the inside area of the kayak to apply a backing

Good luck! you don't want corrosion & unwanted holes...

I'll see what Rik (OEX KM) says this afternoon. I just hate how close my reels are to the water when using the flush mounts. Thanks for the advise!

There is a flush mount extension that solves that problem OEX.

This is it:

You want to get some well nuts or rivets. They will work better than the toggles.

OEX sells a plastic pop rivet that works quite well for these kinds of attachments. They are expensive as rivets go but they work and will not be affected by marine conditions.

Def go for the plastic pop rivet. Talk to Rik down at the KM OEX, i was down there this afternoon around 4, and he had plenty of them on the shelf.

It's 7.99 for a pack of 10 at the OEX in Mission. I was there today and bought 2 packs, they work great. I now have Rod holders mounted to my Kayak. Next will be the FF. I was going to use regular Rivets that you get at Home Depot, but after watching a video made by OEX in Mission Bay I realized that it's better to get the ones that are made for Kayaks. I have never used rivets but after yesterday man I'm hooked up. Tonight I'll be installing the FF and Handles on the Yak. I'll be ready for Saturday's first launch.
