Baja Hwy 1 unpassable
ENSENADA – The few Baja travelers heading south should be aware, there are several places of MEX Highway 1 unpassable as of last week due to the heavy rains, according to the website bajanomad.com
-- The bridge at Las Animas has collapsed. -- The bridge at San Vicente was also affected. -- Apparently, the bridge at Colonet has also been damaged. -- The bridge in Col. Guerrero is damaged. -- The bridge in El Rosario has partially collapsed... many stranded people south of it. Reports are that food supplies are being delivered with ropes over it. In other storm-related news, normal communications with the San Quintin area are unavailable at the moment with no phone services, no cellular, no internet (only Movistar services are available in some areas). TelNor and Telcel have dispatched technicians via air to attempt repairs. |
how far south is one to get before the road is closed?

I think you can get almost to San Vicente, maybe 40 miles south of Ensenada.

Thank you....

you can now get to el rosario with ease and some vehicles are making it across the alternate crossing. Mexico recovers from this stuff fast. That said there are still scientists stranded at the observatory on diablo.
