more solo yak hoopin
I liked the way the conditions were looking lately and had not been on the water in a week. I got out of work and headed for the launch. Incoming tide made for a LONGGGGG paddle out to the spot. The bugs didn't want to play at first. Then after a couple hours they turned on. Some good pulls and then all my bait was about chewed up. Just bones in the cages.
Talked to a couple bd'ers on the water last night and enjoyed another stoagie. http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/im.../smoking33.gif Great conditions with no wind and pleasant temps. the tide made for a nice paddle back. Finished the night around 9pm and headed for the beach. Lots of just shorts (Clickers) last night. I did manage a few keepers though.http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/im...es/biggrin.gif Thanksgiving dinner here I come. Steak and lobster. Tired of doing the same old turkey thing for Thanksgiving. <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND>http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...n-pb170962.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...n-pb170963.jpg </FIELDSET> |
very nice work! :) do you use an anchor when you are hooping? i think i might try and do some hooping this weekend out of dana point.
what gear should i buy besides the hoop net of course? head lamp.. do i need to have an anchor? |
No anchor needed. I just set the hoops and hang out close by. Other than hoops and bait cages, lobster guage and report card....you'll need a good light that is visible 360 degrees (regulation i think)a head lamp and some gloves. A fish finder to see bottom structure is also very helpful.

nice job Sherm! I am shooting for Saturday night.

Jim (Spyder) is looking at that night as well. I don't know yet if I can get out. I also need to eat some bugs between now and then so I'm not over the posession limit.;) |
Nice Job,
I guess I should have pulled the family emergency excuse. I can just picture it I'm drifting by shelter island and my boss is networking and watching me drift by. Plan on heading out Sat/Sun. |
nice bunch of bugs! :D

This may be my new favorite way to finish off the bugs. The wife's clam and Lobster chowder served in a sourdough bowl. Man that was good:D

Nice looking bowl o chowder Sherm. Enjoy the trails and lets get out after the holiday. |
Good job!
Your wife's lobster/clam chowder bowl just increased this weekends hoop count by at least 10,000 up and down the coast.
This just in... Red Lobster has a new lobster/chowder bowl on the menu but would like to use that pic on the menu :notworthy:. |

I had just eaten lunch when I saw the pic...so I had another lunch. And now I'm hungry again... |

I'll see if I can't get the recipe from the wife. It's a pretty awesome dinner right there. |

Sherm's got it dialed in! :cheers1:
I talked to my buddy Bob, he's big on lobster and knows more than a few things about fishing and hoopin'... He said you guys were hooping together the other night, he praised you as a super nice guy. |
