Newbie rod and reel advice

Hey guys new to the sport kayakless at the moment but gathering tackle and gear beforehand.

I'd like a rod length and type along with a reel recommendation for fishing bass in open water with plastics on a 1/4 to 1/2 oz, lead head.

I was eyeballing the Shimano Calcutta's but cant figure out wich model?

What do you think? :reel:

12-15lb on Calcutta 400 and a 7'-6" Teramar TMCX76M should do it. I use the same rod but with a low-profile 300DSV instead of the Calcutta. Works great on the 3B's.

My two bass kelping rigs are:

calcutta 400 15-20# on a seeker inshore 708
calcutta 250 12-15# on a seeker inshore 706

given a choice of only one, it would be the 400.
