When The Boats Are Away The Kayakers Will Play

DVL is a kayakers paradise now. It's not the ocean but, being that it's two miles away from my house I'll make do. The bass fishing is going off right now. I found a cove where the bass/birds had the shad pinned in and were boiling/jumping out of the water like little tuna. Took awhile to find the right bait to use. But once found it was a fish every thrid cast. The stripers are starting to put on a show also. I was the only kayaker out and I saw a total of five rental boats out somewhere on the lake. I had a coyote follow me around all day, he would come within 10' of me. Just walking the shoreline with me as I fished.

Way to go Tim. That place looks like it could be on another world..

You know what.........I have never caught a freshwater bass in my life

kareem korn 12-07-2008 04:00 PM

Jim, I'm sure the bass are happy about that :sifone:. The stripper are starting to put on a show and can get up to 30 + lbs. I'm trying to dial them in.

Probably, that was a month back that was long ago. :) I've been hitting it up often lately. Anyone care to join me, I fish mostly on fridays.

DVL Is sweet. Ive fished it only a couple times but it was a blast. Its a trip how 20' feet off the shore your in 40' of water sometimes.

GHOSTHUNTR 12-10-2008 06:14 PM

I've been fishing DVL a lot lately from shore or rental and all I can say is it is the closest you can get to saltwater fishing. I've seen boils there that are very close to the boils you see from YT out in the ocean. Those big stripers eating trout put on quite a show! Now if I could get one of them to eat my Lunker Punker I would be VERY happy. Too bad they have so many rules there, or I would have my boat and my kayak out there alot.
