Bluefin from the inflatable Kaboat
Had tuna on my mind.
launched at 0630, made it past the fog bank around 8 and was able to see more than 100 yards. Lots of empty Pattie’s along the way, started seeing deep marks from tuna (150-200ft) and then finally foamers. Trolled lures through the foamers hoping for an easy hookup and they wouldn’t touch any of the newest, hottest lures or the old trusty ones. Switched to irons, got cut off through my braid twice by the school. Got tired of re tying floro top shots on my jig stick so i Switched to my trollers, the Okuma SLX 20 with 65lb braid and 100lb mono wind on and tossed a salas 6x in chrome and got cut off, rigged my other rod which is its twin and came tight on a few fish then stuck one. The video tells the rest. https://youtu.be/PdG362f8ztM |
Awesome!! Congratulations! Very inspirational! :jig: Liked and Subscribed! Now I would like to see someone do the same with a kayak.:reel: Let's go BWE.....

Yeah a tuna that size in a kayak would be a sleigh ride! Idk if I would last that long. |
Score! Great job, it's really funny to see the death spin on the way up with your inflatable spinning with it, hell that probably wears it down even more.

WOW
A real battle :boxing_smiley: with losses on both sides (life vs equipment). Gaff with detachable hook - smart. Congratulations on the epic WIN ! 👑

Inspirational! Very nice catches! Maybe this year a kayaker can take one of the larger units -- 100lb plus club! BWE can make a new category...... That one on the spinning reel must have been a ball buster! Two-speed reels are the ticket when it comes to reeling up a circling tuna. :reel: Thanks for sharing! |

It's good that the Kaboat has a big capacity. Had that been on a small kayak or Solo skiff, you might have had some weight issues. Quote:

How many miles did you end up going round trip?
|
That was awesome, lowprofile. Good thing you sped up the death spiral, otherwise the video would have been more than twice as long. Good patience, got a little worried on those first couple of missed gaff opportunities, that would always be my first worry with an inflatable. Still searching for one on my Solo Skiff. Tight Lines.

The gaff is fine, just keep the point up and don’t let it go under the boat. I’m sure you’ll get one in the skiff! Just get out there early and go on the hunt! |
Thanks. Loaded going tomorrow.
