RockFish...
2 Attachment(s)
Thanks for the recipe idea...Professor Long Arms...Changed it up a little and it was Soooo delicious…:you_rock:
Steamed then really hot peanut oil dribbled on top, then the soy/fish sauce…! Beautiful weather for the opener...only a couple of kayakers fishing and the boats all went to the outside so it was nice and quiet. First time I've been able to fish the Rockfish opener for many years...we're usually setting up the FHS or it's been too windy...:( I tried some old school red shrimp flies and squid at the first 4 spots for zero... Then I switched to the AHI pink glow Squirts with squid, and it was game on... Bummer to have to "throw back" (used a descender) a bunch of Reds after I got my 4 fish limit... Love Dem SQUIRTS...:cheers1: |

Another variation of the recipe
I have a variation my wife taught me, and is our favorite way to eat many of our fresh caught fish. Steam the fish like they did. Finely julienne ginger and green onions and sprinkle liberally on the fish. heat a little oil in a pan and add soy sauce. let the oil/soy come to a rolling boil then drizzle over the ginger/green onion/fish.

If you can't find any of the aromatics, you can always sub them out for other kinds. and don't skimp on trying to change it up with things like cilantro or burdock root as subs for things like green onion or ginger. That said, the standard recipe as you outlined it is a real workhorse. |
That horse brush is called a curry comb for anyone that wants to look for one

Wow Jim!! Looks soooooo good!!!

Come on up...the weather next week looks decent so far... The RF bite has been OK since the opener...but not WFO...:cheers1: Gotta find the school that wants to bite. Yesterday we had...2 limits of Reds and a bunch of mixed fish…Starys and all, with a few Med/small Bocassio from one inside spot. Only one nice Red:reel: |
