New Hampshire report - striper on the LC 110
Was in New Hampshire last week for vacation and got a couple ocean paddles in with a borrowed Cobra Play sit-on-top. No rod holders so I just stuck my medium-light travel rod in one of the scupper holes by my feet. On my first outing I trolled a Rapala X-Rap 10, but didn't get any hits.

I trolled and took breaks to cast, had a few follows from small fish but they wouldn't bite. On the way back in, probably 30 yards from my landing spot, my rod bent back. I had just trolled over a submerged rocky area, so I thought I was snagged. My snag started to swim to the right though, and it turned into a not-big-but-also-not-small striper! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1936974e_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b8271786_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cdb5d961_c.jpg Miles: 3.8 Hours: 1:23 Water Temp: 69 The striper wasn't a new species for my list, but the only one I've caught before was around 8 inches, so I was pretty happy to get a good upgrade. :) |
Very Nice!
...better than the stripe of the skunk for sure!

Sweet. I grew up in NH, and lived on the North Shore of Mass for a while. Lots of good memories of surfcasting for stripes at the mouth of the Merrimack river, mostly unsuccessful but occasionally getting bit by something more than a little schooly!
Just got back from a trip to Maine myself, and I ran into a few stripers on the New Meadows river. One of the best eating fishes you can get. |
Stripers are cool fish. Looks like a fun trip man!

Amazing how calm the seas are up there -- like a lake! Congrats on nailing the striper!
