Launch time 6:15
Needed to get out after being in the house for almost 2 months. Red tide reports so i decided to try the wall.
No more kelp on the out side of the wall. Or fish willing to try a fly either, so after an hour I moved to the inside and found a rock pile with some kelp holding some fish.
water temp 66.5

what size fly line are you using? Is it a sinking line, sinking tip? What is your set up, what size rod. I used to use a seven sized 9' rod with a sinking line for bass at the lake. .I tried that on corvina at the salton sea with a steel rod that the fish broke in half. That was probably why steel rods were never popular but it was fun to try

I use a 8 Wt. rod with a 250 or 300 Gr. 30 foot sink tip line with running line behind that. the only time i have broken rods is on a bat ray of banging it on a rock. OPS.

Most people don't remember the steel tube fly rods that were sold in the fifties by department stores. They definitely weren't made for fighting strong fish, I think there were best suited for pan fish. I thought hooking a corvina on one would be fun, as soon as I set back on that fish the rod folded. What streamers are you fishing?
