After work butts
http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...2/100_2159.JPG
I knew there was going to be a very strong incoming tide so I figured I would hit the bay after work. Loaded up the yak and hit the water about 4:30. I paddled over to an area I wanted to check and see if it had fish hanging there. It looked good the last time I paddled past and I wanted to know. I arrived at the spot and found a rippin incoming tide. To make matters worse the wind was blowing the same direction as the tide. I made my 1st drop and bingo!....a nice sandie comes yak side. By the time that fish was released..the current took me away from the spot. So I paddled against the current and made another drift. That produced another sandie. And so it went. Paddle up current catch a fish on the pass by the spot. Luckily the wind died way down and the drift became manageable. I could make several cast closer to the spot. Well that is when the fishing really picked up. I was starting to catch the flat kind. The sandies were gone and the butts came to play. I got a hit on my jig stick that was heavy. While fighting that one the bottom rig goes off. What a cluster $#@& this is turning out to be. I set the hook on the bottom rig and went back to the rod in my hand. Finally get a 21 inch flattie to the yak. I released that one and went to the bottom rig. Fish still on!! I went to fighting this one and it was a bit nicer. A couple minutes later and a 25incher aboard. I fished that spot for another hour pulling in flatties the entire time. I released two hali's right at 22 inches. Better to let them grow. A great afterwork outting. Off the water around 7:30pm. Fish Count: 9 Flatties (18 to 25in) 11 Sand Bass (15 to 18in) 5 Spotties 1 Calico All C&R (except the 25 incher http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/im...ilies/wink.gif ) <!-- / message --><!-- attachments --> <FIELDSET class=fieldset><LEGEND>Attached Thumbnails</LEGEND>http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2152.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2154.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2156.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2155.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2159.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2157.jpg http://www.bloodydecks.com/forums/at...3-100_2161.jpg </FIELDSET> |

A few different types of plastics (single tail scampi and a big hammer) both covered in Uni Butter and a couple different types of gulp baits. |
