lobster hooping
Just wanted an idea how people rig up their kayaks for hooping :lobster:. Hoping to do some of that this season. Anyone in the LA area setting anything up when the season opens? :cheers1:

Best investment is a Scotty pulley arm.
https://www.amazon.com/Scotty-Trap-E...rds=scotty+arm The holder for above should have a proper backing. https://www.amazon.com/Scotty-441-Ba...F3SA2A06JRP5TT https://www.amazon.com/Scotty-244-BK...unt+rod+holder https://www.amazon.com/Scotty-241-BK...MZSVRP8EPJK1M9 I personally will be in Catalina without kayak. I would like to try it at the mainland with kayak, but have not done yet. |

The add for me is a PVC hoop net rack to keep them organized and stable on my way in and out. I used 1/2 inch but think 3/4 would have been better. This unit is 3 seasons old broken and repaired 2x. Still works.
Those two PVC posts sit in the rear scupper holes of a hobie outback. Bungie cord holds in rack in place. Happy hooping. |
That pvc rack looks useful. I've been meaning to make one.
I tried the scotty puller thing and ended up just preferring to just pull without it. I recommend you get cable organizer to wrap the rope for each trap. They are $1 and are very handy. |
