All quiet on the western front

Well, the gang was out in force on the heels of Arne's record breaker. However, he obviously put the fear of god into the fish as they were a no-show as of 9:15 when I bailed. Highlight of the day was catching some squid. No bumps, no buzzes, no hangups, no nothing.

Thanks.....i'm gonna give it whirl tomorrow for a little redemption from yesterday's swing and miss.

I gave it a shot this morning, I was a little South of the tupperware party. The water temp had dropped to 60 degrees from 62 on Sunday. Nothing happened for me either. Metered lots of bait and bigger fish but they were not seduced by my bait or irons. Had to be at work for a 9:30 meeting, it was tough leaving knowing what had been caught the last few days. Hope someone nails it today. Dave

Thanks for the report...

That's been my kind of timing lately. Follow up the "big" day on the first succeeding day when nothing bites.

So, did you actually read the book, or watch the movie? (You know my guess!)

There's a movie?

I tend to be the opposite on timing. I'll fish 25-30 hours over a long weekend and not get shit, then Andy posts about fish going off all over on Mon/Tues. Has happened several times this year. And Arne's timing is just uncanny. In fact, "F-ing Arne", was pretty much the refrain of the day,.

Brad: Original movie made in 1930.

And, you mean Arne's name is not hyphenated? ("f-ing-Arne"). And, I thought his last name was Dammit.

First one to the beach at 4:30...I'm at work still because my Chef De Cuisine Call in SICK  Pulling a long one, not catching fish makes it even longer....I'm pretty much done for the year unless global warming turns La Jolla into the East Cape and there's YFT a mile off shore. My highlight of the day was when a Dolphin swam under Jim and I at 5:00 heading down to the pier. I'm tired :!: :!:

I think the Dammit is a prefix and his last name is luckisonfabitch because today I kept hearing "Dammit F-ing-Arne Luckisonfabitch".

Well, maybe I mumbled it a few times myself.

Actually, he mentioned that Andy had tried to nickname him Pornstar earlier before Golden Boy stuck. I think I like Pornstar better because it is obscene what he is doing out there. And because then I guess Andy would be the fluffer, and that makes me laugh.

Man, I knew you were old but I didn't realize you were THAT old. Kind of explains the fishing. :D That's a little before my time.

I found one...

Did a lazy man's launch this afternoon, picked a 42lbs yellow on a deadstick iron. Fished halibut north of the pier with plastics, then went to the canyon and hooked up. Was down there yesterday with my daughters class and saw some action just north of the tidepools, now I know what all the fuss was about, maybe a squid float!

DESTROYER 11-30-2005 06:46 PM

Your kidding right :?:

CSniper 11-30-2005 07:32 PM

nope

this is my personal best yellow ever, and I've been fishing/spearing them for nearly 30 years. After autopsy, squids found in the belly. Jig was "dorado" color, blue, white and green. La Jolla is just starting, don't put the gear away yet!
