Silverwood Lake 5/5/17 report
4 Attachment(s)
Started semi retirement on May 1st, planning to get my kayak out a lot more, so here is my first post.
Quiet morning until my brother broke the ice with about a 10 lb. catfish he caught throwing a plastic worm on a rocky point for bass. Released her to grow even bigger. Trout wanted nothing to do with any lures until I tied on a red and gold 1/6 oz. Thomas Buoyant. It was the only thing they were interested in and I had my limit in just a couple of hours. Best action was at the inlet spillway by the dam. Wind started pretty good around 11:30 so we made the long peddle back directly into the stiff wind. Cooked a few trout on the grill using a slight modification of Yanni's recipe on fishermansbelly.com. Scored points with the wife and youngest daughter with trout dinner that night. Nice way to start semi retirement. Hope to have more posts in the future (and learn how to post images better). We do most of our fishing in the ocean and want to give LJ a try this summer. Hope to see some of you on the water and hope you found this post interesting. |
Thanks for the report, the Thomas Buoyant is one my go to lures.

Looks like a fun outing! The red/gold Thomas Bouyant is easily one of my best trout lures.

Chunk of a catfish your buddy got! And those trout don't look too bad either. Mmmm... lol. How windy did it get yesterday? Silverwood is on my list, but the near 2 hours drive is usually pretty discouraging for a less productive day in comparison to the salt.

Weather report predicted 15 mph by 1:00 pm that day and I would say it was all of that and maybe more by the time we got back to the marina.
|
Wow that's worse than the majority of my trips. Thanks.
