Hobie outback rod holder options
 

So I've been using below holder extended to not interfere with pedaling for a while but it doesn't hold the rod securely when fish pulls

What are other options to securely hold my rod that doesn't get in the way of pedaling?

I have always used Scotty. The big one & never had issues.
My buddy has the same issues with his Ram Mount like yours.

You could use a Scotty. Is your RAM ball mounted to a Gear Trac or directly to the hull?

Mine is mounted on gear trac using a ball mount
I think that's the problem but I wanted all the attachment points sit flush with in the hull so that's why I went with gear trac
Can Scotty be installed flush to the hull with minimum alteration to the hull?

Scotty mounts, short extensions and powerlock rod holders. Scotty washers for infinite adjustment to the rod holder. With the extension, I keep the rods horizontal, perpendicular to the water and the rods are completely out of the way. This is how a troll flylined baits, drift bottom, everything

O...ya...I just bought one of these for the top of my Scotty Mount. Love the additional options of moving the rod holder side to side. Instead of just up & down.

It's that screw in part that gets loose every time there's a fish in the line
I was trolling a lucky craft lure inside the harbor last time and it got loose every time a small fish was caught..

Had a couple on my phone. The key is getting them forward enough to not hit your legs but still easily reachable. And the rubber washer sets are awesome.

That's a righty-tighty/lefty-loosey problem, haha. I wonder if that can be reduced with some loc-tite or something.
