Redondo
Went to Redondo yesterday with Reiner for the first time.
At the launch around 6 to beautiful glassy conditions and no wind. Lots of big macs around so bait was easy to make. No numbers so just paddled around edge of canyon looking for bait and structure. Fished most of the morning with Mac on the bottom. Reiner fly line. No bites. Tried a bit of jigging as well. Reiner got one sand dab with eyes too big for his stomach on a flat fall. Highlight of the morning was seeing a couple of grey whales and lots of dolphin harassing the big schools of macs. Saw several kayaks out there but kept our distance to respect people's spots. Not sure if anyone got anything. With so much fin bait around one would think there might be a few yellowtail chasing them. Off the water by noon. Hand launch a bit of a cluster f on return but to be expected on nice Summer day. Always great to be on the water. Fish or no fish |
Guys have been getting rat yellows in he harbor.

Good report. I'm planning to hit up Redondo this Saturday.

I would have loved to see those whales!

yeah fishing wasn't greatest (at least not for the target species) but the dolphins put up a good show.

Next to Polly's on the Pier. Behind Ruby's restaurant.
