PFD alternative?

Definitely not an alternative to a full PFD but may be something useful to have as backup in an emergency kit, it may also come in handy if you come across someone else who needs help on the water.

As compact and "neat" as this is, it looks like you have to deploy it... meaning some level of conscious effort.
If you get knocked-out/run over by a boat, the PFD will still do its thing where this will just be along for the ride to the bottom (or wherever the current decides to take your non-responsive self). |
Yeah, in a pinch situation this thing would be less than ideal.
