Rent a HOBIE?
Wondering if anyone would be willing to rent out one of their old Hobie Kayaks?
I certainly understand and wouldn't lend or rent my personal set up but, if anyone has an older one laying around and is willing rent for day use, per you break it you buy it terms, or something very similar....? Random but thought i'd ask....tight lines!! dp |
I have the same question for the San Diego area, particularly near La Mesa, Mission Bay, etc. Anyone know of local business's who rent Outbacks?
It would be nice to know where to get another kayak when friends visit. --- Further north, I know a guy who likes to rent out his 2014 Hobie Outback from Ventura. It's his own personal kayak with good wheels, fishfinder, etc. I think he asks $75/day, but don't know the details. If anyone wants to rent in Ventura, send me a PM and I'll give you his contact information. |
Maybe check with the fine people that bring us this site at no charge?

Do not know of any Hobie rental options in SD, I rent them up here, $50 per day and every third day in a row free.

Good to know thanks Andy! Buddy of mine is in town this weekend. If wind/weather permits we'll be stopping by! Price check if I may ask?

@Iceman Do you rent any Tandem Kayaks at OEX Sunset Beach? I want to take my GF but she doesn't want to paddle herself, she just wants to come along for the ride LOL.

Personally, I find the anti-Hobie bullying, shaming and chest-beating that goes on here to be off-putting. Nobody should try to enforce exclusivity with this kind of ridicule. That's not right and it's self-defeating. I'll buy my supplies from anyone I like, including Squidco, West Marine and others. Fastlane has always been good to me. So has OEX. Also, OEX may help support this website, but who contributes most of the content? Answer: the entire kayak fishing community who comes here to participate. OEX should be appreciative of that. They probably are. That shouldn't preclude us from mentioning the F-word. We all go to events sponsored by lots of companies who want to promote their products. Why not? |
Hobie
I'm sorry I started this...Fast Lane is a Hobie dealer and I support their business as I do with all the Hobie dealers in So. Cal...as a regional Hobie Team member I should have PM'd the poster to inform him of who it is that runs this particular board....rather than cause this divisiveness.
I Apologize...! With that out of the way I can second what Mo said... "Means don't go to Burger King and order a Big Mac... This forum is run by the good folks at OEX for the community..." |
I apologize too, but back to the point of this thread:
I have been looking for a 2nd Hobie Outback to rent in San Diego and have not found one yet. I may end up buying a second Outback myself just to have it available for friends. Some of the local fishing guides have extra kayaks available if you want to go with a guide. Those I've met have lots of talent and are good at what they do. Their prices can be reasonable, especially if it includes the extra kayak we need and if we can learn some important new skills. Ken is a guide who does this: http://www.seasamurai.com/ |
Yeah man that kens the best.....
