Introduction

Hey all.
Been checking out this site for a little while now.
Very informative.
First post intro.
I've been kayak fishing for several years now.
Moved to Culver City a few years ago from Brisbane, Australia where I really got seriously into the sport.
Started on the east coast in NY.
I paddle a camo Trident 13 and usually fish solo anywhere between Malibu and Dana Point.
Been to La Jolla once.
Look forward to contributing and maybe meeting some of you out on the water.
Tight lines, Steve

Welcome mate,

Lived in Wollongong in the mid 70's. Loved the sunshine coast. Should have bought lots of r.e. but shoulda coulda etc. Sea wasps and cone shells just made things difficult. ha ha. I fish lj primarily. Why the heck did you leave oz for L.A. Hope you are making heaps of $ to make up for the move.

Thanks again for all the welcomes.
Hey Murray, lived in Scarborough about a block from Morton Bay in between the Sunny Coast and the Gold Coast for 4 years. Just about everything in Australia is poisonous enough to kill 20 men. Ha ha.
My wife and I got burned out from living in Brooklyn for 15 years so we decided to escape. She's from Sydney but I'm American - grew up in Jersey.
Started to feel trapped in paradise.
Missed the buzz of city life but NY is hard so decided on LA. It has the ocean, mountains, desert all right here. Inlaws live in Tweed northern NSW by bottom of Gold Coast and we visit for a few weeks every year so I get to fish an amazing area. Father in law has a 40 ft. game boat. I married well

The real reason you moved out here.!

Just kidding man,

Welcome

Welcome.

I am originally from NY and loved the energy there and also the fishing but especially the food.

I would never live there again though.

There are a lot of things I don't like about California but not enough to make me leave.

I loved oz and would never have returned but for the wife missing family and friends. Loved the people and it was like turning the clock back 50 years when we lived there. Very simple life style and I have never been a city guy. Actually run from crowds and disneyland is one of my worst nightmares..ha ha. Let me know the next time you plan a lj trip and I can bore you with hours of oz stories while we fish for yellows and wsb. Welcome.

YakDout 10-11-2015 08:43 AM

Have you ever fished for the kingfish out in oz? They get big over there Ive heard.

Thanks Murray.
Don't get down there too often but seems like the place to fish at the moment. Will hit you up next time I make the trip.
Hit me up if you ever come up here.
I have plenty of Oz stories too

Have caught some big Kingfish in Oz.
Only on a boat.
Fishing is amazing at times.
Marlin, yellowfin, mahi, etc
One day we tagged 23 little black marlin.
80 to 120 lbs.
The inshore estuary fishing is cool as well.
