September yellow - 11lbs. 12oz.

Paddled out just before 6am. Light offshore wind. No waves.

Bait was tough at the pier, but I managed a couple of Spanish. Worked that area for a small
calico (6 inches), then trolled around out to the kelp.

Outside, the water was clear and glassy. I even saw a couple of whales spout and breach.

Metered some bait balls, so I dropped a sabiki, hoping for some better bait and
some lobster bait for Friday. Ended up picking up a small whitefish.

Was also fly lining a spanish when I got a couple of chirps,
then ZZZZZZZZZ. I had my drag set light, so a lot of line went out. I set the hook
and began reeling, not too eager to tighten the drag, as it's been so slow at LJ lately.

The drag unravelled until it got to some sort of tangle in the reel. Now I had no choice,
the line was taught, I was getting full bendo and I was starting to get
towed. I didn't want to snap the line, so I tightened the
drag just enough so I could make some headway, since I couldn't get the snag out of my reel.
I must have spooled it incorrectly, because I couldn't see a bird's nest in there.

I made some ground and was still getting pulled a little. The ocean was glassy and
there was no wind or surf, so it was easy for me to get a little sleigh ride.

I continued to make some headway, though there were a few runs to the deep along the way.
I knew this was the right kind. On my meter, I could see he was about 35 ft. down,
so I took a peek over the side (he was in an up and down run directly below me).
When I looked, to my surprise, I could plainly see that it was a yellow. That tells me
that the visibility was at least 25-30 ft. Very clean and clear.

have a beer and relax...:D

...I don't want to see any last minute dash on the beach. We all thought you were
going to have a heart attack last year. :D

...but just in case, I'll bring my taser for you...lol
