Where to take my daughter fishing?
Good morning I know its not really kayak related but eventually she will be fishing from a kayak.... Where do you recommend I take my almost 2 year old? I know her patience will be minimal at this age so a park near the fishing area would be ideal.:reel::reel::reel:
THank you |
tidelands park in Coronado. fish seem happy to bite with calm waters

My daughter loved fishing with red worms at Loveland Res in Alpine. She still calls it "Bluegill Bay". Fun hike down purdy, I can only imagine how low the water level is.

My son is two and he loves the bay cause he can jump in at anytime. If he holds the reel and takes a couple cranks before finding something else to peak his interest i call it a success.

Lake Jennings was always cool too, get a rowboat or fish the shore. I hooked and handed this LMB and Briani reeled it in......I just bought her first car for her couple days ago :D

May also try Santee Lakes. Grass right up to the edge of lake, play area for kids.

That's awesome. I attempted to take my 2 year old girl fishing at the park. she threw her sippy cup in the pond, then her pole, dumped out the garlic scent dip. Then proceded to climb into the pond. Oh, and all this happened in less then 5 minutes.
So where can I go to catch bluegill? I can't seem to buy a bite at any of my local ponds here in Orange County. Anyone. Know where I can go locally for some bluegill action? |
The pier and a sibiki! They have a blast just catching bait! Or, the beach with trout gear, Carolina with a #8 mosquito hook, 6-8lb flouro leader and 2" camo Berkley worms, for surf perch, yellowfin and spotfin croakers. Newport seems to be good for that.

I started taking my son out at about 2yrs. Take her out for about an hour at a time on the yak, not sure what yak you have. I threw my son up front on my Outback and Trident 13. i would open my hatch and sit him inside the hull on my old Revo, he's too big to do that with now. Tideland Park is a good area in the AM bc it's quiet and there is a good abundance of fish that are easy to catch.
He's 2yr in the pic |
Nice! I do the same with my boys. Short trips. 1-2 hours at a time. They get tired quick. Sit them in the back of the Outback. It's getting to be a tight squeeze cause they're getting big. My five year old caught a 12 inch sandy last time. It's AWESOME watching the kids hook up. They're so excited. Very cool.
