Battery Box for the PA
Here are a few pic of the new battery box set-up I did for my trolling motor on my PA 14...
http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...0/IMG_5259.JPG The storage bag attached to the seat back is from Surf to Summit. It is a great spot for my VHF radio and my safety gear (whistle mirror, compass etc.) and it has two extra cup holders so I can take two Contigo hot cups out with me. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...0/IMG_5257.JPG I fabricated 2 wooden legs for the box and a couple of small filler pieces to raise it above the seat retainer strap. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...0/IMG_5258.JPG This method works a lot better and trims the PA's ride nicely. I was running the battery from the front hatch but that extra weight really brought the bow down and allowed it to take on too much water when the waves were hitting head-on. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwegall...0/IMG_5256.JPG |
Great "Macgyver" on the battery box...especially "leveling" the battery box with a pair of well contoured pieces of wood. That last item in and of itself shows attention to detail. :)
How did you secure them (to the box or yak)? Nice job :cheers1: FFY :sifone: |
screws
FFY...Thanks...I simply screwed the plastic battery box to the wooden legs with some stainless sheet metal screws. It's all painted black now so it looks a little cleaner. The weight is all pushing down so I attached a bungee to the seat supports to keep it from flopping backwards.

What motor are you using and how are u keeping it dry during launch and landing?

motor
It's the Motor Guide R-3 with a custom mount in the Mirage Drive well.
I only use it when launching at ramp or dock launches, so no need to "keep it dry". |
