Tide affect on LJ fishing?
I've come to understand how critical tide movement is in the bays, but what do people think of the need to have water movement for YT, WSB, Calico and Halibutt off La Jolla? Better tide movement = better bite?

I definitely believe tidal movement effects fishing.

It's not always tide related like in the bays but current is a huge factor in LJ. The best fishing is usually when the current is from the open ocean toward shore. Parallel to shore or out to sea are not so good. Zero current is the worst. Mike

The only thing I follow is the wind, I could care less about tidal movement. I've caught fish (mostly halibut) during the incoming, outgoing and slack tide. My personal belief is that if the fish are hungry they will bite regardless of what the water is doing. Most of my available fishing time is on the weekends so if I was waiting for the perfect Saturday or Sunday I'd probably be doing more sitting than fishing.
