Lure fishing

I wish my fishing experience was more like this. I miss the fish and snag the grass.

Is that the Banjo Minnow?

If you're serious about the grass... War Baits and Owner Ultrahead bullet rig type-z. Plus good old EWG hooks and a bullet weights work too.

Seems like Amish ed and Land whale know how to fish the grass, they're posting spotties every week!! I had problems a bit with the warbaits bc the grass was getting snagged under the line on the front of the face of the head. After seeing Landwhales pics, I realize I need some owner sled heads, and probably some of those paddlerz too!!

The Owner Ultrahead bullet rig type-z is better than the Sled Head, though harder to find. I think Steve and I bought the last of Tackle Warehouse's stock.

Good to go, thanks Amish ed. I'll see what they have at the long fin or Fishermans Access by my house.

Which plastics do you use with those bullet jigs?

When I use the sled heads the only thing I use is the berkley gulp jerk shads.

I use the Type Z for 4" and 5" Paddlerz, Zoom Fluke, 5" Swimmin' Senko, Baby Brushhog, and basically anything that'll fit on it.

The Warbait I mostly use with swimbaits and grubs.

Thanks, Amish Ed. I'll look into it!

I bought some of these and had to use super glue to hold the z man baits on to the hook.

Are these the same as the Type Z?

Amish Ed 08-08-2014 09:46 AM

The Type Z is heavier and has a 3/0 hook. That said, I just found out a couple of weeks ago that Owner stopped making them last year. I can't find them anywhere now, except from a couple of European sites.

I can see why the 5" would not stay on the regular bullet head. That 1/0 is petty small. The 4" might stay on better. Once glued on, did you catch any fish?

I caught some but the sledhead did better. I think you are right 3 or 4 inch baits would work better on this jighead.
