Google "kid beach, Newport, ca" that's where I launch
Some people launh from USCG station also

I've launched from both, but I think a prefer kids beach since there's less sand to pull your yak through, and closer to parking if it's available.

If I go by myself I launch from cosat guard just because on kids beach you have to go down some stairs and its a pain with a loaded kayak unless you want to unload, take it down and load again. Also I don't like yo leave my kayak alone while I go look for parking
