La Jolla Restirctions
As I am new to this board I would like to say hi for starters and hope to start some posting and sharing. I have been out to LJ just once before the fishing restrictions were implemented. I was hoping someone could clarify a boundary on where we are allowed to fish. I went on DFG and basically see a big red square saying MLPA restrictions out to the point. I am going to try and get out there soon so thanks in advance for your help.

I've always been told to paddle to the marked buoy out there, then go past it another 150ish yards because it has moved and to be safe.

someone posted a picture of a palm tree and it lined up with the flag pole then you were good.

Sounds like Matt before he bought his GPS. |
Just keep paddling until you cross the red line. :D
Last time I was out I noticed that the old yellow pencil buoys were replaced with white ones that are marked with "5 knots". Just a heads up so someone on their first time out doesn't look for the yellow ones anymore. |
Here's the lineup - just look for the tall flagpole up on the hill and the big white building as you pass the cove - cant miss it. That marks the exact border of the MLPA as verified over multiple days using GPS, but I'd still paddle a few more yards west just to be sure before dropping a line...
