Backpack Sprayer to wash your kayak
 

Awhile back, a few guys I met at the baytubers tournament wash their kayaks right at the parking lot with portable sprayers and mounted truck undercarriage sprayers. I was intrigue and tried to do a search but nothing found. Anyone else doing the kayak spray down before they hit the road so by the time they get home the kayak is dried and ready for storage? Here's one of the product that i'm talking about but i'm trying to do a 12v direct plug from the car with a switch and mount this under the car, but 4 gallons of water seems so little.

A company called The spraybox! A little more expensive but trust me, well worth it. Holds ten gallons and last 20 minutes. More than enough water and pressure to wash all your gear mounted and hard wired to truck! Check them out they also have a few other products.

Good timing as I was just looking into this as I load my kayak on roof of car and don't want to damage paint. I am getting one that you just pump and is only 2 gallons. Just enough to clean surface of sand for transport. Will wash down fully at home.

Thanks for the quick reply and pointing me in the right direction Hellster Inc. The product looks terrific, but quite expensive because they engineer it well. I think I can build one at 1/3 the cost by researching the parts I need.

They also have just a pump unit so you can add your own water container. Might be more what you are looking for.

Mine holds 3.5 gallons which is good for 1 complete cleaning of everything, or 2 quick rinses for going out again the next day.

I typically stop at a coin operated car wash on my way home and give the Yak and my car a good wash. Costs a few bucks each trip but you get squeeky clean and with the yack on top of my sled I can get all the nooks and crannies.

Make one for about 150 bucks.

Tractor supply online sells tanks of various sizes.

There are pump, hose and sprayer combos available online.

Use it for your camping needs too. I made mine a little bigger16 gallons....lasts for ever. 12 volt to truck power.

Keep in mind that this is a 'sprayer' and not a wash down system. A typical wash down pump can move 3 to 5 gpm, this will not move spray more than a gallon a minute, all this sprayer will do is get you kayak wet.

so at LJ a couple weeks ago, surfer had a larger 6inch diameter PVC with a shower head connected attached to the rail of his truck. held enough water for a quick shower and rinse. Pretty good idea could attack a hose line and use for rinsing gear as well. I liked it not much pressure but enough for a RINSE.

Wash down happens at home in the yard for me.

If 40psi is not enough amazon has some 100 psi 12v water pump for less than $40. Since the places to launch my kayak usually takes about 1hr to get to the launch area, I figure this will help with my clean up.

don't buy a sprayer, save your money and buy something that will do what it's supposed to do; wash down.

I've seen this one and it's a great pump with more than enough pressure to get the slime and blood off the kayak.

Am I missing something here? please save your money just bring couple gallons of 1 gallon of tap water from home. I bring one to two gallons of hot tap water to rinse off after surfing in the morning works great and cost nothing.

I think you are missing something....were not surfers and we're not rinsing surboards. We're rinsing rods, reels, mirage drives, fishfinders, paddles, radios, waterproof speakers, phones, binoculars, kayaks, fish, blood, guts, scales, salt, mud, sand, slime, cars, trucks, tailgates....

Keep your rods, reels, car and kayak clean

I built his exact set up at home from parts (slightly different nozzle) cost me about $150. My tank is 16 gallons.


Looks like at 99 buck its a sweet deal.

Has actual pressure to clean something.
