No kayak this time but I took the wife out for her first time trout fishing. We went out last night and got her very own ultra light rod and reel last night and I spent the extra time teaching her how to spool the line and what we would be using for bait the next day. It was an awesome day today the trout were biting and the weather was beautiful. Although she was not happy about getting up at 5am, once the fish started biting and she got the thrill of setting the hook and reeling in the fish and it taking line I can say she is hooked. And yes she did catch a bigger fish than I did, and I have not heard the end of it yet..... she ended the day with 4 nice rainbows. Sorry cant figure out how to get the photos straight.

After our trip to SARL I'm swearing off of trout. I'm gearing up for a different color. You with me?

I've been trying to get my wife to join for years... she won't participate in the fishing, but she's more-than-happy to eat them.

So what are the rigs you are using to catch trout. I can't remember the last time I went freshwater fishing and would like to know what's the setup for catching trout. Worms, lures, plastics, powerbaits or night crawlers. Small hook light line and split shots??
