Add a front seat for an extra person
Been taking my son with me on my PA14 and he sits on a bucket behind me. I had a thought however....what if I got a light weight seat, mounted it on a pole that slipped into the front sail mast holder and had 2 legs in the back to support his weight? The seat would need to be just high enough so my feet could go underneath when peddling. Has anyone ever tried such a thing?

I use a boat seat from Walmart. Strap it down any way you want

That is awesome. Going to be coping that.

The seat in the back is, IMO, the way to go. I've been tossing this idea around for awhile with my son who is only 54 lbs., even at that weight putting him in front, on the hatch, puts the front of the yak pretty low and any swells or wakes from passing boats makes for a wet rider. We have only tried it at the lake but the back seat was the best way to go for us. Hope that helps.

Helps alot Kirk, thanks. But was worried about the back end sagging too much. You can see how high the front of Dan's kayak sits up.

I've never tried anything like that before but wouldn't it be easier to just buy a tandem kayak? Then the seats would already be built in.
