I launched at kellog st, Got bait, and decided to hit the open water. I pedaled about three mile past the Jetty (SD Bay). Ten hours on the water, got lost in the fog, and this is all I caught. Hope there's better days in the near future. Attachment 10231

Talk about robbing the cradle.

First time I don't regret peddling out with you. I had a pancake fest on the rocks as well though. Bunch of butts under 10 inches, granted I was fishing the dropshot for a change of pace though.

it's not a sand dab ?

the body shape does look different , i think .

No, you didn't miss a thing. I was so lost out there in that thick fog. I saw boats in the distance. I didn't know if they were coming or going. Lucky I saw the Daily Double as I was passing up the channel up heading toward LA Jolla. I saw the deckhand fileting fish so I knew they were going in and not out. Soon as the fog lifted the wind kicked up and the water was rough as hell. Nothing good about this day out there.

I've caught San Dab. They look quite a bit different. I'm pretty sure it's a baby Halibut..

It's a halibaby !

It is a Sand Dab for sure. You can tell by the shape of the tail very quickly. The lateral line and the length of the jaw are also good indicators.

YOU GOT SAND DABBED :D

Aaron&Julie 09-09-2013 01:26 PM

Sand dab.

Too bad you thought is a baby halibut, you missed out on a hearty meal, IF you'd have caught a dozen more.

Honey, I shrunk the fish!
