Anyone fishing Dana Point...

Over the next few days?

I fished it this afternoon, for not much action. There was a lumpy mixed short period swell that made it pretty uncomfortable out there. Magic seaweed showed it coming from 3 different directions, @ 15, 5 and 5 seconds. Washing machine conditions. I would definitely wait until that clears before I head out again.

Bait barge had chovies only.

That short-period secondary swell going sideways to the main swell is the one that screws it up. The 3rd swell looks like its sticking around for a few days as well. Add in the holiday weekend boat traffic, and it is pretty soupy.

Doho side, north of the river mouth is still pretty reasonable and protected if you do feel like heading out. I was able to scratch up a short Hali and a kelpfish on the chovies yesterday, with lots of baits that got raked by Hali's too short to even take the chovie.
