8/15 La Jolla. Finally!
1 Attachment(s)
Launched at 545, super calm. Found a huge school of huge dines, they were being chased by something. I kept paddling around the school, trying to position myself in their path and get a yo-yo under them, but no takers. So i fly lined a dine and kept cruising with the school, and 8am, I got the bite. Twenty minute fight and very near miss with a sea lion, so near a miss that there were teeth scrapes on the tail, I land this 28lb beauty. Thank to you everyone that has helped and given hints along the way!
Oh, as far as the bite, she had 6 SMALL squids in her belly. |
Wow, excellent! I was out there for several hours, but a later launch. Nice and flat conditions, but no fish. A few raked baits from barracuda, but I saw nobody get a fish. Guess it paid to be out early.
I saw 5-7 kayaks and the same for power boats. I launched at 10:30 (after a 9-10 meeting) and stayed until 3:00, yes the worst time of day, but eventually caught a few macs to troll around. It seemed pretty darn slow to me, but your post proves me wrong. Good job! Oh yes, and so many dang seals! |
Nice fish! I had one on that took me to the kelp.

Good stuff, nice work!
Also, excuse my ignorance (from east coast) so not familiar to the term, but what is a school of dine? |
Mine was taken by a sea lion:(
