OK Prowler Trident 11
Does anyone have this yak? If so, how do like it in regards to tracking, surf navigation, long paddling, stability, etc. Thanks!

Can only speak to the stability aspect so far.
I recently got a 13T for myself, and picked up an 11T for my wife/me. At 31" wide, the 11 is extremely stable. We took the yaks out to MDR for a quick paddle recently. Wife had no problems using it for stand-up paddling in breezy conditions. I could do the same in the 13, which is a little narrower. I was a bit more wobbly than her... but I also outweigh her by quite a bit. I'm sure if I tried doing that in the 11, it would be a bit easier. |
I have the Trident Angler 11 model.
I really like this kayak. It is one of the widest kayaks so it extremely stable and yes you can stand on it. It is very nimble and turns on a short radius. Tracking is good and better than advertised. Not the fastest and not the slowest either. I think for relatively short paddles it is great. If you have a long paddle just take your time and it will handle most conditions very nicely. |
Thank you! Keep em coming if anyone has more input
I figure it has to better than paddling a Fish n Dive. The long paddle was what I was concerned about, but it should handle it |
Can't speak for the 11, but I have the 13. It's a great kayak. Standing up in it would be unwise. But it punches through the surf well, tracks straight, and is pretty fast.

I have spent a lot of time in all the OK boats so here are my thoughts on your questions.
Handles surf well, as most OK's do. Stable yes Tracking, well it tracks like an 11 foot kayak. If you are used to longer kayaks and use a longer paddle it tracks horrible. If you use a shorter paddle and are used to short boats it tracks pretty well. Long distance paddling, well I personally don't want to paddle it very far, by jumping up to the 13 you will get much better performance. It is one thing to paddle an 11 foot kayak out on a nice calm day, let the wind and current pick up and you will really wish you were in a longer boat. Your height and weight will also have a big influence on the performance of this kayak. I found with my weight and the weight of my gear I was too heavy for this boat. |
