LJ 3/29 - 3/30 Evenings
Thursday evening I managed a few short WSB and a big calico in 20 - 25
feet of water, in south LJ, on bass plastics. Friday launched the canyon at 4:45 pm and caught some smelt. Slow trolled out to 90' of water and got bit on the 7" blue/grn/grey colored swimbait. Well since I'm pedaling, I got to feel the hard *thwak* bite because I was HOLDING the rod ... startled, I managed to create an untimely spectra tipwrap for 3 seconds as the fish made a quick run/headshake. Somehow snapped fluoro 25# with a clean break/cut so either the leader had a nick or it was a toothy critter. :farmer: Later in the evening my flylined smelt went nuts, so I looked back to see 10 seconds of crashing boiling yellowtail (saw the head of one pop out) :yt: which decided not to eat the smelt after all. Great show though. Looks :yt: yellowtaily-ish out there. Both trips I fished the 9'9" Hobie Sport kayak coupled with turbo mirage drive. . . |
Right on, Larry... Thanks for the report. I got PM shift tomorrow.
