Go Pro Accessories?

My Go Pro3 Black is arriving tomorrow and my company just gave me $100 Amazon gift card. I’m looking to spend it on some go pro accessories. So in terms of using it on the yak what would be some good accessories to buy?

Thanks
Kevin

Something to make it float!

Raskal311 04-04-2013 01:17 PM

Good call, I wonder if it being inside the water proff case would be enough for it to float. If not I would probably just use pool noodles.

2nd battery...remote...extending holder...carrying case...

You will need a Micro SD card to make the camera work. Get a 32gb card (or two if you are not going to transfer files pretty often).

I got the battery bacpac and thats heavy so you will need somthing.
If you dont get the extra battery you will not last that long while recording, i believe its like 45-60 min is all you will get. The WIFI remote will suck you battery dry in no time also. Run tests at home with the different setting. run each setting from a full charge to a dead battery.
This will so you what your recording time is compaired to quality and file size, but most important per Gopro it will condition your battery and the gopro will learn what the true time of the battery is. after doing a few discharges to charges i am getting another 10-15min of record time.

Good choice. I just bought one a few weeks back.

http://www.amazon.com/Wasabi-Power-B.../ref=pd_cp_p_0
Buy this! 2 batteries with slightly larger capacity than stock... Great deal...

http://palmettokayakfishing.blogspot...rsion-for.html
Build this! Buy the Monopod on Amazon for $9.99, Tripod mount for $5.80

The Battery BacPac is a good one from what I hear as well (no experience with that yet)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
32 Gb Class 10 Micro SD card

+1 on the wifi killing the battery life.

I have the exact battery kit already in my cart. But there is a review on YouTube that shows less battery life compared to the stock battery even at the higher capacity. Still a good buy for the price.

Will a 64gig card work?

jorluivil 04-04-2013 05:54 PM

32gb card
save yourself the money and make your own pole, fill the pole with expanding foam just in case you flip
extra battery
car charger
I wouldn't bother with the remote, the wi-fi eats up a lot of battery. besides, its much easier to just reach back and turn it on using the 'one button' option

A remote. Panfish extension for those over the shoulder views, polarized lens filter, that should take care of the $100 easily.

So the plan is the two battery kit with car charger for $30
DIY Mono Pod $15
head strap $10
Polarized Len $15
Gopro Sucktion Cup Ram mount $30
I think I can get back my 32 micro sd card that i left the the galaxy S2 I gave my sister.

Any thoughts on rigging the gopro up to the 12v fishfinder battery?

Unless you're skydiving I would scrap the head strap. You'll get better footage if the camera is stationary.

Check the micro sd card, I don't know what others use but I would recommend a class 10.

yeah it was a class 10.

anybody know if they fixed the problem with changing batteries (must you reset the date and time)? If not, and you don't plan on using it very deep, you would be better off with the battery bacpac.

Matar 04-04-2013 07:51 PM

The last time I checked which was about two weeks ago if you change out the battery it resets the time and date. With the back pack you get the new back door and at least your not chancing dropping the camera or getting it wet. Read up on proper sealing of the back door.

To get the 12v power, you are going to need a 12VDC to 5VDC converter - and it needs to be sea worthy. And that means you will have your camera out of its protective case to connect power. I advise against it.
The memory card needs to be a class 10 device since the camera needs to write lots of video data to it and fast. Be sure the memory card from the S2 has that capability.

I was acutally hoping to get a spare case and modify it to accept the USB cable while still in the case. Yes I'm possitive the card is a class 10.
